I’m Taking CXWORX Class

Around the beginning of November, my 24 hr fitness gym started offering a new class, CXWORX, and I decided to try it out. It’s a new Les Mills class for core training. On their website, it says it’s “based on cutting-edge scientific research” and “combines the best of personal training with the energy of a group fitness class” with “choreographed routines and chart-topping music that’ll bring you back for more.” This class focuses on “core training, strength training, and functional fitness” it “really hones in on the torso and sling muscles that connect your upper body to your lower body.  It’s ideal for tightening your tummy and butt, while also improving functional strength and assisting in injury prevention.” Sounds great, but what does that mean? Well, we have a 30 minute class, and we use stretch bands. We do crunches, lunges, squats, rows, planks, and more. Right when I started, I ended up having to miss a couple, but lately I’ve been getting to go every Thursday. On Wednesdays I have my pilates, so with those two back to back, I can really feel it in my abs. They’re feeling great! Apparently this should help my butt too, I’d LOVE a bigger butt. Even though it’s only a half hour class, I end up sweaty at the end. All Les Mills classes cycle to new songs and a new routine every three months, and our new one begins next week, but I still haven’t mastered the exercises we’ve been doing in this class yet. I’ll be excited for the day I can do the abs exercises the whole time the right way, or use both cords the entire time on the stretch bands, or even move up from the light (orange) band to the heavy (black) band. Right afterward I take the first half of the UJam Fitness dance class (because an hour of workout is enough for me, I wanna get home to my dinner!) which makes a nice contrast to the more specialized work of Cxworx. Have any of you tried this new class? What do you think? Are you seeing results? I can’t tell if my results would have happened through my other workouts or not, but I do feel more ab-y lately. I don’t think anyone can SEE the difference but I don’t care about that, it’s all about how I FEEL!

Check out a video of random people doing this class here.
