Timer – Do Soulmates Exist?
Yesterday i watched a movie called Timer. It seemed interesting, and it starred Anya from buffy (someone i always thought would be awesome to know, she was always so refreshingly blunt and truthful). But then, the concept really grabbed me. It’s about the near future, where at 14, anyone can get a timer installed onto their wrist. As long as your soulmate also has a timer installed, it will show you how many days, hours and minutes, until you meet your soulmate. When it zeros out, you have 24 hrs and within that 24 hrs, you will hear a ping noise and look up and there will be your soulmate, also pinging. That way, no one has to risk things like heartbreak and divorce. But some people don’t want to … Read entire article »

Sex and the City 2: Not bad, but should be SATC LAST (my review of the prescreening)
Last night I was lucky enough to attend an advance screening of the Sex and the City 2 movie over at the Westfield mall (love the seats there!). Since most of you can’t see it until Friday, I thought I’d put a review up on my blog, so you can see if you want to see it. Although, if you’re a SATC fan, you’ll want to see it regardless of whatever I write. You may remember the first movie was pretty much like a long episode of the show. Sure, they’re older, time has passed, and there’s a little more drama to make it movie. But it was still pretty true to itself. The second movie is more like a parody of itself, with some genuine show moments sprinkled in. … Read entire article »

Interview with my brother, Doug Lloyd about his movie, Still Green
My brother, doug, makes movies. I’m sure you may have heard me talking about his movie, Still Green, at some point… Of course, I’m super proud that he has been so successful and creative! The upcoming DVD release prompted me to think how I really know very little about the whole movie making process, or how he got into it (beyond a vague recollection of him and his friends burning something in the yard and filming it??) and I decided to interview him about it. Any of you movie buffs may be interested in learning about an up and coming independent movie producer like Doug Lloyd! Me: So, what made you decide to start working with movies and film?DL: I started working at a public access TV station as an … Read entire article »

Still Green (my brother’s movie) coming to theatres!
>Do you like independent movies? Yes? Great! Do you live in the MA area or FL? Yes? Yay! No? Well, read now and look for more details later… My brother Doug makes movies. He and his friend and business partner Georgia (they are pictured here at my sis’s wedding, photos by myself and Matt Stearns) run Uncovered Productions. Their biggest project yet, spanning years now, has been Still Green, which Georgia actually wrote. After all this time and hard work, it is now appearing for a limited running in theatres! (And, to dvd and blueray later this yr). Still Green is a kind of coming of age type movie, which has won Best Narrative Feature for the New England Film/Video Festival, Spirit of Independence – Best Cast at the Ft. … Read entire article »

movie review: max payne
i’d been waiting to watch max payne for quite a while. the previews were amazing. it was so sin city graphic novelish. i was intrigued by the strange winged beings that were crashing through windows, while a gorgeous woman lay on the bed and some people ran around shooting things, including these angels. such a movie would have been great, but that wasn’t what max payne was about. we learn right away that the winged angel things are nothing but weird hallucinations. the really hot woman on the bed is natasha, who is only in the movie for a few minutes and not too important. there is some fighting by the main guy and hot but not as hot girl (meg griffin of family guy), and others, but mostly it’s … Read entire article »

movie review: wedding daze
Wedding daze was pretty much not believeable and pretty forgettable, I’m already forgetting it as I write this. But it was entertaining at the time. After a guy’s love of his life dies when he proposes to her, and he becomes obsessed, he randomly proposes to the waitress, who he doesn’t even know. She’s already had someone propose to her, her boyfriend, but she accepts this stranger instead. Well, the boyfriend was soo annoying anyway. Like the ex in meet the parents. And probably actually not into her anyway. Blah blah comedy stuff happens and everyone lives happily ever after in the end. But, watch it if it’s around, because you will laugh some. Just not a special movie. … Read entire article »

movie review: don’t mess with the zohan
Don’t mess with the zohan was better than I expected. The ads looked so bad, I didn’t even want to see it. But then it was there. For some reason I thought it was about a weird plumber psychic. Its not. It’s about a guy who escapes the war at home and comes to the us to become a hair stylist. He is truly gross, with his bad clothes and his old hair styles and the way he sleeps with every woman who comes in to get her hair cut (yes, every woman, no matter if she’s 40 or 80). It was totally predictable, but lighthearted enough to watch and sometimes be funny. Plus, the hairstylist woman who owns the salon is beautiful. If you’re looking for a dumb comedy, … Read entire article »

Movie Review: Speed racer
I never saw the cartoon speed racer, so I had no idea of what the movie was about. I thought it was about some imaginary world a school kid lived in… that’s what I got from the trailers. I guess I didn’t pay much attention, because that’s not what it’s about at all. This movie is almost 2 1/2 hrs long, and it starts out a little slow and talky. I was confused (yes, I can get confused about the plot of a kids movie) and losing interest and j was falling asleep so we turned it off. Next day, better rested, we started again. And it was great! Once you get through the front part, there is an exciting story about a family of car racers, who take on … Read entire article »
