My Birthday Party at Chaos and about the Next One

My Birthday Party at Chaos and about the Next One

My birthday was on thanksgiving this year, when no one’s around to celebrate it. Honestly, even when it’s a couple days away from thanksgiving, it’s still not a good time to celebrate it, so most of the time, I don’t.  This year, I decided I would. My best friend runs a club night now, and I help him, so why not use it to celebrate me being 33? So that’s what I did! The weekend … Read entire article »

Veggie and Tofu Stir-Fry and Semi-Veggie Week 2

Veggie and Tofu Stir-Fry and Semi-Veggie Week 2

Week two of semi vegetarian eating! Monday I had off for MLK day.  Roomie and I decided to make it a be lazy day. It was also a true vegetarian day, as neither of us usually has meat at breakfast (we made challah French toast yum) and then we tried out Little Star deep dish pizza, famed to be the best pizza in San Francisco. They might be right – their namesake pizza was DELISH! … Read entire article »

Starting off the New Year

Starting off the New Year

It’s time for the belated New Year’s post! I’ll try and keep it short, since I’m fairly certain i remember writing this before, and then i guess I lost it..oops! My New Year’s was pretty low-key. Everyone is always all about partying on NYE, like it’s the most special party night of the year. And for some, it is. Even the cleaning lady at work chided me for not having nye plans ‘you’re young, you … Read entire article »

SOPA, PIPA & Everything Else, maybe the world WILL end soon…

SOPA, PIPA & Everything Else, maybe the world WILL end soon…

I’ve known about SOPA for a while now. I’ve been signing petitions. When i first heard about it, i thought it was fake, a joke. That can’t happen here, not in the US, we have free speech! But i signed the petition anyway, just in case. And sadly, it was no joke. Finally, yesterday everyone else started taking notice. We’ll see if wikki’s blackout and the petitions and google and etc will do some good. … Read entire article »

Lentils, Squash & Chickpeas – A First Week’s Worth of Vegetarian Dinner Recipes

Lentils, Squash & Chickpeas – A First Week’s Worth of Vegetarian Dinner Recipes

As of when I’m writing this, last night was our first ‘cook vegetarian night.’  It’s not like we don’t have vegetables every day for a side dish, cuz we do. They’re healthy, and we like them. Roomie usually runs to the Safeway grocery store near the gym during the day to pick up random groceries, so I emailed him a list for two dishes, and off he went. Roadblock already, because he couldn’t find some … Read entire article »

I’m Taking CXWORX Class

Around the beginning of November, my 24 hr fitness gym started offering a new class, CXWORX, and I decided to try it out. It’s a new Les Mills class for core training. On their website, it says it’s “based on cutting-edge scientific research” and “combines the best of personal training with the energy of a group fitness class” with “choreographed routines and chart-topping music that’ll bring you back for more.” This class focuses on “core training, strength training, and functional fitness” it “really hones in on the torso and sling muscles that connect your upper body to your lower body.  It’s ideal for tightening your tummy and butt, while also improving functional strength and assisting in injury prevention.” Sounds great, but what does that mean? Well, we have a 30 … Read entire article »

Becoming Sometimes Vegetarians?

I’ve been thinking about vegetarianism for quite some time. A couple years. I’ve thought maybe by the time I get old and die, I’ll manage to become a vegetarian. I’ve done a lot of research. I know that it’s healthy to be one (provided, obviously, that you don’t only eat junk food), that people don’t need to eat meat for protein and such. I know it’s better for the environment.  I know that the animals and people who are involved with factory farming and slaughterhouses get severely mistreated. At the same time, I don’t believe that eating meat and animal products is wrong. Although not necessary, animal and dairy products can be healthy parts of a healthy diet. My main reason for objecting is the way the animals are treated. … Read entire article »

Ever Changing Words

The other day I was having a conversation with my roommate: Him: How do you spell ‘definitely’? Me: I dunno, that’s a hard word. I usually just put ‘def.’ Him: Ya, me too. I’ve been randomly thinking about how technology is changing the way we write, spell and even talk. Now that people have to limit characters for their twitter updates, or are texting, chatting, messaging, facebooking, etc., Words are turning very shorthand. Even in longer mediums… I’m forever getting email blogs with random things abbreviated. I think I saw super-mag today, something that reminded me of the made up slang of the future from J.D. Robb’s ‘In Death’ book series. I may sound like I’m against this changing of the English language but I’m not. Once upon a time, … Read entire article »

Looking Back on 2011 and Forward to 2012

It’s another year and I guess I should be writing the usual year end post. Last year I did one,  I didn’t so much make any goals to be checking up on. But I can kinda continue from where that left off… This year I had some fun trips… Palm Springs for White Party, to San Diego for Pride in July , to NH to become a godmother in August  & a few staycations of SF Pride in June and Folsom weekend in September. I have some more fun trips planned this next year..maybe Palm Springs again, definitely Florida, and San Diego. But speaking of that trip to NH, the most important thing that happened this past year was my niece Lana being born in April  – meeting her, me becoming … Read entire article »
