1st Annual San Francisco International Tea Festival

1st Annual San Francisco International Tea Festival

I love tea. I’ve always loved tea. I started drinking tea as a toddler… on my very first dentist’s appointment, they told her the tea was turning my teeth colors, I drank so much! LOL. A couple years ago I switched from tea bags to loose tea, as I figured, I might as well indulge myself in something I love so much. I use mostly Golden Moon loose tea, which I order off the internet. … Read entire article »

Adjusting to Temporarily Living By Myself

I have a couple fun blogs to go up for you…but I haven’t had the energy to paste in photos or post them! Tomorrow?!? I’ve been living by myself while my roomie is out of town, for about eleven days or so by now, with another week to go. I’m used to living by myself for short amounts of time, but not long ones. Eventually, I’ll have to end up living alone for real at some point, so this long stretch is a good practice, I thought. I’ve definitely been going through periods of adjustment. By now, every surface of our tiny apartment is covered in my things. From the instant you walk through the door, if you go into my roomie’s room (where we keep the tv), my room, … Read entire article »

Pinterest

Pinterest

The last thing it seems like we’d need is ANOTHER social media thing to play around on… When I first heard about Pinterest, I didn’t understand it. I was confused as to what it was, I didn’t think I’d like it. Then one night I was talking to my friend Carina and she brought it up and explained it more fully to me and I decided to check it out. A couple of days later, … Read entire article »

When Recipes go Bad – A Non Vegetarian Recipe, Lobster Quesadillas

When Recipes go Bad – A Non Vegetarian Recipe, Lobster Quesadillas

This past week wasn’t the best week for recipes! Monday we had a just ok recipe, Warm Lentil Salad with Grapes, Feta and Mint. You can feel free to try it but we won’t be trying again.  Tuesday I had a recipe I’d previously tried, black eyed peas and tomatoes and sauteed bananas, which we liked again.  Wednesday we tried a horrible recipe that looked like baby diarhea!! coconut lentil soup with warm lentil salad … Read entire article »

Wet Houses – Shelters where Alcohol is Allowed

My city, San Francisco, is kind of unique, and thus it tends to propose some unique sounding provisions, which I’ve spoken about a couple of them before. I came across this new article from twitter, about a proposal to start wet houses here in our city. It’s perhaps not SO unique, because it looks like Seattle is also starting this. SF has a lot of homeless. A lot. We are a sanctuary city, and people come from all over the country to be homeless here. SF theorizes that there are a relatively few number of homeless individuals who take up more of our money in emergency care, arrests and the like than everyone else, and who don’t tend to see the inside of many shelters for preventative care. These people … Read entire article »

Dutch Apple Pancake, Celery Root & Making Time to Cook

Dutch Apple Pancake, Celery Root & Making Time to Cook

Some parts of eating healthy become second nature… always checking the labels of everything, avoiding over processed food, not even thinking of eating some things you’ve ingrained now not to eat. But also sometimes, it takes a bit of effort. Each time I add a new ‘healthy’ it ends up taking longer. Right now, the whole part time vegetarian mixed with using random foods that come in the CSA delivery mixed with not eating sugar … Read entire article »

Live Tweeting Becky Shaw Play Plus I’m Quoted in the News

Sorry I’ve been MIA this past week… I’ve got partial blogs but not a whole one!! In the meantime, popping in to let you know that tonight,2/16/12, I’ll be live tweeting from SF Playhouse’s play Becky Shaw. This is a comedy thriller about a blind date. The show is sold out tonight, and most nights,so I’m excited!! There’s still a few tickets left on some performances, so you should go buy one. I’ll be posting a review later. In the meantime, head over to www.twitter.com/merrijane at 7pm PST to see what i say, or www.twitter.com/sfplayhouse to see what everyone says. Speaking of tweeting plays, a few weeks ago, I got interviewed about this, and was quoted in a news article. Follow the link to read it (I’m near the end). … Read entire article »

The Last Club Chaos and the Next One

The Last Club Chaos and the Next One

Our January 28th Chaos was AWESOME as usual! I can’t tell you how much I enjoy helping to make a club each month.  Obviously, I can’t really write reviews of my own club, because it’d be conflict of interest and no one would believe me anyway when I say it’s great, even though it really was. Instead, I’ll just do a monthly recap blog to SHOW you how great it was. Here’s the video I … Read entire article »

Wine and Canvas: I Paint a Picture

Wine and Canvas: I Paint a Picture

I’m craving pilates because I missed it last Wednesday. But I don’t regret missing it because instead, I took a painting class! Yes, my friend Catherine and I got a coupon to go to Wine and Canvas, which I believe is fairly new to our area. Wine and Canvas is a program where they set up classes in bars around the city and teach you to paint one famous painting. Some of them looked kinda … Read entire article »
